An opportunity to acquire a piece of ‘history in the making’ in the couturier’s 40th anniversary year
Catherine Walker & Co will host a wedding dress sample sale at its Chelsea showroom from Monday 11th December, giving brides-to-be the opportunity to purchase stunning gowns from this leading couture house.
As its 40th anniversary year draws to a close, the House will open its doors for a special release of one-off samples – elegant wedding dresses will be available to buy from as little as £500.
Catherine Walker & Co was perhaps the first atelier to introduce Savile Row tailoring to women’s formal and occasion wear in the 1970s, thanks to Co-Founder and today’s Head of Design Said Cyrus. All garments are designed, made and embellished by hand in the atelier housed in a row of mews houses adjacent to the House’s Sydney Street showroom. Within this atelier is a team of 30 dedicated craftsmen and women, some of whom have been with the house for more than three decades.
Catherine Walker & Co was jointly founded in 1977 by Catherine Walker and her business partner and husband Said Cyrus, a former lecturer in design theory for ten years at the Chelsea School of Art. Together, they ran the company for more than 30 years until Catherine’s demise in 2010.
Independently owned, under Said Cyrus’ direction the Catherine Walker & Co design team is free to focus on delivering unparalleled quality and attention to its clientele. It continues to set standards in made to measure luxury womenswear and bespoke couture.
The sample sale will run from Monday 11th December 2017, from 10am to 6pm at Catherine Walker & Co’s showroom: 65 Sydney Street, London, SW3 6PX. Wedding dresses will be on sale at prices starting from £500 up to £3,000.
